Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Lance and I have so much to be grateful for. We have seen so many blessings in our lives over this last year but today we are especially grateful for the opportunity to grow our family. Yesterday our profile was put on itsaboutlove.org. We started this process last February and the agency has finally got their part done so everything's a go. We would be so grateful if people would pass the word along! Until then we play the waiting game.

Jesus Love

We have made great progress with Mason. He no longer thinks Jesus is Curious George.
We were given this statue of Jesus and a little boy from Masons biological great grandma. So it's a special little treasure of ours. We have it in Masons room on his dresser. I started noticing that Jesus was joining Mason in his crib when I would get him from waking up. This has become a regular thing. When I come in to get him he holds Jesus up an sweetly says, Jesus! He then carefully puts Jesus back on his dresser. There have been some days where I go in and check on him and he has Jesus snuggled up next to him in his arms.
I'm glad he loves his Jesus.

Welcome Home

I know I skipped a lot about our trip to Utah but that's ok cause I will get that in later. I just had to let everyone know how lucky Lance and I are!

First of all we had a VERY VERY long day of traveling back to Boston. Our adventure started with a drive to Salt Lake at 8:30 am. Not to bad. When all was said and done we returned home at 2:00 am. Blows your mind , huh!? Mason did surprisingly amazing. Lance and I were both shocked. We were just waiting for an explosion of a tantrum but with only a few second outburst he did great! 

First reason why we are so lucky. Lances sister Cami rocks! Well really ALL of his sisters rock and are fabulous. She drove to the airport and picked us up at ridiculous hours of the night and also did a little grocery shopping so we wouldn't starve to death when we returned home. AWESOME! That milk saved us I'm pretty sure. 

Second reason why we are a couple of lucky ducks. We have the MOST AMAZING neighbors in the universe! These people are the best for so many reasons but on this occasion their kindness and friendship really touched me. Not only did they take care of everything at our house, like mail and packages and stuff. They made us so happy to back. Walking up the stairs of our place I was exhausted. As soon as I saw this on the door I wanted to cry. It was so sweet to me at that moment.

All of my air conditioners had been turned on to cool things down and help take care of all the mugginess. 

To top it all of she had turned on my scentsy warmer for a little extra special touch.

Seriously who's neighbor does that? Mine does! Who's neighbor lets you send your child over to play whenever, and takes him outside so you can get unpacked and things back in order from the last 2 1/2 months. Mine does! As soon as I saw all this I couldn't sleep cause I was so excited about being home. I don't think we went to bed till 3:30. I just kept walking around my little 620 square foot apartment so happy to be home! Thanks Lydia and Myles for being the best neighbors anyone could ask for! 

First Pit Stop: Denver

First up Denver! Whenever we make a trip home we make sure to make a stop to Denver and visit our favorite Coloradans. Karen and Zack are always kind enough to let us invade on them for weeks at a time. Pretty sure their home is a hotel cause they constantly have visitors. They always put us in the nicest accommodations, better then any fancy hotel I have ever been to. They also know how to entertain.
We found ourselves staying the the beautiful Keystone Resort for a few days. We did some hiking, fabulous shopping where I got some killer deals that I couldn't pass up, swimming, and some much needed R and R. Well as much as we could with all of our little rascals running around. I'm sad I can't access the pictures from that trip but will put those up when they become available.
After coming home from that fabulous weekend they had more fun stuff in store for us. We enjoyed a day at the little/big beachy thing by their home. It was a perfect day. Nobody was there, probably cause the water was ridiculously cold but that didn't stop anyone from having fun! Proof:

 One of the last activities we enjoyed and probably Masons favorite was a train ride and a petting zoo. If you know Mason you know there is no greater joy for him then his trains and animals! This day was AWESOME in his book.

He was very nervous about the whole thing at first. He wasn't quite sure what to do with the fact that this goat was right in front of him and he could pet it.

Ruffle Ruffle Ruffle

Hello again blogging community. Yeah I'm still alive and so is the family. I really stink at this blogger thing but I have a goal to get going on it and stop dilly daddling. It's not like I'm up to nothing here in Boston and Mason doesn't do anything ridiculously cute every day. So here's to a new start! Cheers! Lately I'm obsessed with sewing and I want to make so many things it's ridiculous. It doesn't help being on Pinterest constantly looking at fun new projects to do and thinking, "OH YEAH THAT LOOKS EASY, I COULD TOTALLY DO THAT".What was I thinking!? Don't ever tell yourself that, especially if you have NO IDEA what the crap your doing. I pretty much fudge my way through all projects and some how they turn out. My totally awesome neighbor Lydia(who one day will have her very own post cause shes that awesome)basically threw her sewing machine at me and said here use it as much as you want! Really she was just sick of storing it at her house. I was pretty excited to start this new adventure of sewing after all I was a total expert(in my mind). My first project was to make these really cute ruffle curtains. I thought how hard could this be. Cut out panels, hem some edges, ruffle some panels, and sew it on to the main panel. Easy Peasy! STUPID! More like iron a ton of fabric, cut out 100 gazillion panels, try and figure out how to ruffle then ruffle those 100 gazillion panels, MEASURE AND MARK, then sew them all on. Not cool. I found this fantastic little presser foot for the sewing machine that does all the ruffling, pleating, attaches and ruffles at the4 same time, and you can adjust the depth and size of the ruffle. This was a genius thing I found. Here it is. A more apropriate name I feel is, The Beast.

It is one crazy contraption! A little intimidating at first but once you get it figured out you want to ruffle                EVERYTHING!

Back to the curtains. I used twin size flat sheets from Wal-Mart in white and grey. This is what really slowed my process up. They never had enough in stock! Ever. Everytime we went to a Wal-Mart that was the first thing I checked for was those blasted sheets. Of  course I could get every color except white. It was like the whole world was making ruffle curtains or something.  I finally was able to get enough to finish them. 

 I was determined to finally get these dang things done tonight!

I really like them a lot! I wanted to not finish this project soooooo many times but I had to finish it or Lance would never let it go if I ever wanted to start another project. Lance said to me I still wish there was 2 panels on each window. NO WAY! I have 2 windows to cover in my room no way in heck am I making 4 of these panels! Now I just have to start and finish the other panel :(

As far as other projects go, isn't this cute!? Lance and I made these floating shelves and painted them bright yellow. But it's a good yellow not an obnoxious yellow. Were working on decorating and finishing up the bedroom. A little at a time. One day I will have it all completed then I will do a little blog on it. Then watch we will have to move as soon as I get it all cute!

I had to get this on video so when he grows up and stops with hugs and kisses, I can hit repeat whenever I need a love from my little man.

Daddy's Boy

The other day Karen and I were crafting our little hearts out. I kept hearing squeals of delight and a little worry. I go to scope out the situation and find this. He was really pleased with himself.

2011 Has come and gone. It was an amazing year for Lance, Mason and I. Mason was sealed to us(one of the best days), lance started Medical School(he absolutely loves it), and we started our new lives in Boston.
 

We got to spend the last of the year with the people we love in the place that we love, although some were missing. We enjoyed some Split Pea Soup and a Lemon Cheesecake with Blueberry Sauce. The highlight of the night was The Dickey Dance Off. Observe.
