Crazy for Crochet

I have a problem.......A big problem! It all started with my sister in-law pulling out her crochet project. It got me thinking. So, I went online to a very naughty website called Etsy. Bad Idea. I started looking and my soul was singing! I was determined to learn! As I looked through the different patterns and things I was about to burst so I had to call someone who I knew would share in my glee. I called my sister in-law Karen. I literally( like seriously) almost had tears in my eyes cause I thought these things were so cute. My heart was overwhelmed with cuteness! Karen I'm sure , thought I had maybe been taking something funny cause I was out of control. Don't worry when I really get good at this my kids will hate me! They will accessories for every outfit.
P.S. Yes this does mean everyone will now only be getting crocheted stuff from me :)

* These were some of my ABSOLUTE favorites! Like, I MUST learn how to make these ones!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

3 Months

Well in another hour and 20 minutes. We did it! We made it to the 3 month mark. Mason has grown so much from the tiny little scrawny thing to a cute little chubba. He's growing so much physically and mentally. Here are just a few little tidbits about the man of the house.
  • He's teething ;( I know it's crazy and is way to young for this but it's true. He constantly is chewing on stuff, drooling, and cranky. If there is a finger in reach he lunges after it like he's going to eat your finger off and chews till nothing is left. As soon as we give him a carrot, finger, or piece of fabric he is happy.
  • He's a chatter box. He loves to talk and be very vocal about how he is feeling. He will sit there and have conversations with you.
  • He loves being on his feet. Whether he's just bouncing up and down or taking little steps. His uncles were walking at 7 and 8 months. Were in trouble....
  • He can do things with his eyebrows that I didn't know were possible. This kid seriously deserves a gold star for the awesome faces he pulls. Even when he's ticked you cant help but laugh. Just ask Karen.
  • He loves his daddy! He's always the loudest and most active with dad.
  • He's a chick magnet. We were in the Olive Garden Restroom and this little old lady with a fun accent was chatting away with him and kissed my child on the forehead. Were definitely in trouble!
  • He's got very curly hair. Watch out Eli you have some competition!
So there you have it. We can't get enough of him and really are loving this whole parent thing! We are have there to having him ours and ready to be sealed and blesses!

Let's Get Crafty

Living next to the DI is a bad thing, although it's probably also a good thing. I love to find good bargains, and make them SHINE! These are a few of my latest crafts.
I was really excited about these candle holders I found at the DI. They were $5 for the 3 of them. I wish I would have taken a before picture because these candle holders were U-G-L-Y. I got a trusty can of spray paint(my best friend) and went to town. I also found these candles for 50% off at Hobby Lobby and wallah!
So the carroty looking things are really corn. I plan on getting out the glitter and making them sparkle!

And this is Masons room! We made the moon, Masons name, and found a few more furniture items at the DI such as the changing table and the lamp. Once again got out the spray paint.

(Gay) Mormon Guy: A Voice of Faith

I wanted to share this blog that I have found by reading through a discussion on Facebook. There has been so much debate on this topic and I have had mixed emotions on this topic. I have many friends who are gay and were very close friends at that. All this hate and bashing from each side that I have heard breaks my heart.
I really enjoyed the talk by President Packer and I know what he said was truly inspiration, but to be honest it made me feel unsettled also. After finding this blog I know longer feel like that.
The man in this blog is truly amazing. Whether your dealing with being Gay, or just any other trial in your life he is an amazing example of enduring and having faith that God will be with you. But he does offer a great insight of what it is like for a Gay man in the LDS faith.

(Gay) Mormon Guy: A Voice of Faith: "Thousands of people protested outside the Church Office Building Thursday evening. I wasn't there. But I understand the pain they feel and t..."

Here is one of his posts that I was really impressed with. Please read other posts of his, they are really uplifting.

Something that's not baby Mason

This picture was taken in Main Drain, the deepest cave in Utah (1200 ft deep, 9th deepest cave in the U.S.) The cave takes about twelve hours to get to the bottom and back. I took this picture about a quarter of the way through the cave and the formations featured are known as cave pearls. As the name suggests, these pearls are quite similar in composition as those found in marine oysters. Calcite deposits onto a small grain of sand that is polished by the water currents over thousands of years. Theses ones are about 1/2 inch in diameter, which is fairly large as far as pearls are concerned although the largest cave pearls in the world are close to 6" in diameter!

First Two Weeks

It was Friday the 13th, our first day home. The drive home from West Valley to Logan was one of the hardest drives of my life. Lance and I both would just randomly burst out in tears just thinking about what just happened. Lances Mom had called us on the way home, he just had to say sorry I can't talk right now. It was still so fresh and so emotional. We definitely needed that hour and a half drive home to process what we had just done. As we went the rounds to each Grandparents home I did everything I could to keep myself together. It was not easy! I mean come on I was supposed to be happy! It was just to painful. We were still in a twilight zone and seemed as if we were just going through the motions.
Our caseworker had mentioned briefly about P.A.D. Postpartum Adoption Depression. When they mentioned it to me I thought oh OK I think I will be fine. Boy was I wrong. All I felt were sadness and guilt for taking this sweet baby from our Brittany. She had been through so much in her life and here I was taking something good, a little miracle from her, and watching her grieve was more then I could bare. It was hard to remember with those emotions going through you that this was supposed to happen. She chose to do this and give this child something more. A stable family. That's the last thing you have on your mind when your grieving for Brittany. Lance was so amazing in all this he stepped into the role of Father so easily and I could not of asked for him to do more or better. He could see how much I struggled and would send me away for a minute to either call someone or just have a moment by myself to let it all out.
One of my biggest pet-peeves is when you have people telling you, oat least you got to do it the easy way and don't have to go through the hormone and physical pain! I just want to scream when I hear that come out of peoples mouths. This process hurt so bad that I said to myself I can't do this again. It's to painful. I was serious about that too. I thought I'm OK with just having Mason, I don't want to put someone else or myself through these feelings again. I told Lance those thoughts and he thought I was crazy for thinking that, which yeah I was now that I can see clearly. How could I ever think that with this amazingly beautiful little man that would call me Mom. How could I never want another one. Though this experience was painfully hard I wouldn't trade it for anything and I'm excited to start the process again when the time is right.
Enough of my crazy roller coaster, now to the little man. He's amazing and wonderful! We couldn't ask for a better baby. He is so mellow and content with things. He loves being wrapped up in a little ball and being snuggled till he's about to pop! He also LOVES bath time! He is definitely a water baby, which Lance and I are excited about. We think it's a great excuse for Grandma and Grandpa to get a hot tub.
We went to his two week check up and he has gone from 6 pounds 5 ounces and 19 1/2 inches long to 7 pounds 4 ounces and 21 inches long. I think it's Laura's milk that's making this kid grow like he's on steroids! Thanks again for that Laura, he loves it! Also Squiggles may have some competition. This boy can squirm! He seems to somehow have some Dickey blood in him.
From the time we left the hospital he has been so alert and strong, I forget he's only 2 1/2 weeks old cause he seems so much more older in his development. He has been holding his neck and head up since before we left the hospital. One funny thing about his features is that he has the hugest big toe ever! With a grip like a boa constrictor! His hands are also very large. When my sister Courtney saw a picture of him for the first time she said, holy cow he has man hands! His hair when wet is curly and is starting to come in very pretty golden blonde. I can not control his mane. He even has a cute little rat-tail on the back.
Everywhere we go we have people commenting, wow he looks just like you guys! We find it quite funny and amusing. It will be fun to see how his looks change as he gets older.
And that's the first 2 weeks! So far we have survived as well as Baby Mason, Thank goodness! We have had so much help and support from friends and family.Wether it's my sister or sister inlaw coming over to watch him while I clean or nap or my mom staying up at all hours with me. My mom is the greatest and spent more then a week with us at night to help us get use to this little man and deal with the changes. Lance was working from 2 am to 4pm so I was the loan ranger. My mom saved me! Thanks Momma!
And so this crazy journey continues!

Sometimes The Hardest Things And The Right Things Are The Same

I'm finally able to sit down and write about the day that broke my heart in two but also made it whole. I have had so many emotions going through me the last week that it has been hard to put anything into words. But here we go!
It was Friday the 13th, what a coincidence. I had showered about 8:30 and we got a phone call about 8:40 saying, " Can you be here in 20 minutes for placement?" I thought oh crap my hair is sopping wet and I have no makeup on, yep OK be there in 20 minutes! I was so frazled that I dont remember much up to the point that we got to the hospital. We got there and waited in the lobby with the caseworker. Brittany was in signing her papers for relinquishment. It struck me hard at that moment realizing what she was doing. She was giving up the one thing that was her. As we waited, we too signed our paperwork to take this child as ours. After she had a minute regain composure it was our turn to go in and see the family.

We walked in and the room was somber and sacred. I immediately went to the bed and embraced her. We both just sobbed together. My heart was breaking for her knowing the pain she was feeling. As soon as I would get myself together I would embrace her and start sobbing all over again. Were talking Crocodile tears!

One of the gifts we gave Brittany was a book called, The Kissing Hand. It's about doing hard things when you don't want to but know it's the right thing to do. In the book the momma racoon gives her son a kiss on his hand to take with him when he went to school. He was to put the hand next to his cheek whenever he felt lonely and wanted his mom, to remind him that she loved him. We had Brittany and Mason do the same. It was so tender when Brittany put her hand to his lips he started sucking on the palm of her hand.
There was a lot of peace in that room, so tangible. I wish I would have been able to concentrate more on that then the heartache I was feeling. After spending time together with Brittany and her Grandparents it was time to say our goodbye's. Brittany lovingly placed Baby Mason in my arms to symbolize us taking this sweet baby into our lives. It was a hard moment, but amazing.

We bawled some more........

Brittany was so strong through all of this. She truly is a remarkable young woman who I look up to so much. I could never Sacrifice the things that she has. Her strength gives me the strength to give this child everything and more she could ever want for him. All we could do was hold her tight and tell her Thank You. Where do you even start trying tell the mother of your child, Thanks.

We LOVE You Brittany! Thanks for blessing our family with something we could never give ourselves....... A FAMILY

Witnessing a Miracle

I don't quite know where to start because I'm in such a hard/grateful/amazing place right now with placement being tomorrow. I apologize if this post is all over the place but that's how my brain and heart feel right now.

I wanted to document the day he was born so I wouldn't ever forget it but I don't knowhow I could!

It all started August 9th, 2010. Britt was to be induced at that morning. As we waited around for the go ahead to come over we were so antsy. We got a text about 10:30 telling us they were not going to induce her yet but stripped her membrane to see if that would help things along. All of us involved were crushed. Britt, Lance, me, and everyone else involved. It felt like Christmas morning waking up, going down stairs and having no presents under the tree. We weren't sure what to do; go home or stick around and see if anything progressed. We decided to wait for a bit and see how things progressed. Throughout the day I felt strongly that it was not time to go home, and we needed to stick around! We received a phone call about 8:30 saying she was at the hospital and they were going to keep her. Happy Day!
Got to the hospital and said hello to Britt then left to sit in the waiting room till we heard the big news. As the night progressed we kept receiving updates. At around 1:30 am the Dr. kicked us out of the room and said Britt needed to get some sleep before she needed to push. Lance tried getting me to leave and head back to house to get some rest at least for a bit. I said heck no I'm not going anywhere! At about 1:50 am the nurse came rushing out and said Grandma get in here this babies head is coming out! Grandma looked at me and said, come on. I was like um I don't think she want's me in there. She said no get in here! So very scared I ran in with her. I have never seen a live birth so this was all new.
I can't begin to describe to you the peace that was in that room. The nurse stuck me front and center! I saw his little head sticking out and nothing I could do to keep the tears from coming out were helping. When he came out, eyes were opened and he didn't cry one bit. Yes he was breathing. He had such a sweet spirit and of course still does. The only cry I heard come out of his mouth was just a tiny one for about 2 seconds when they gave him his second shot. He was so content. It was such an amazing thing to watch. I won't ever be able to express to Britt fully what a precious gift that was for me. It brought a whole new meaning to this adoption.
I loved being able to call Lance in to see this precious gift. His eyes were so full of light. I have never seen him happier except for the day he married me of course! But even then it's a different sparkle. I could tell he bonded at first glance.
We spent some time all together then Lance and I got to go into the nursery and give him his first bath and clean him up. He loved his bath!!! Lance also got a crash course on putting on his diaper. It was so cute! After that we wen't back to the room and spent time with the family.
We ended up leaving about 3:30 am to try and get some sleep. I slept for about 2 hours. How could anyone sleep after something like that? That was day number 1.

Dirty Little Word = Great Blessings

CANCER! It is one dirty word but who would have thought it would bring so many amazing blessings! It's funny how things sort themselves out in life. Without Cancer I probably wouldn't be where I'm at in life. Probably wouldn't have married Lance, and in the process of getting this amazing little baby.
I can't say that when younger I saw myself having my "own" children. It's not something I never imagined or really thought of. For me I think adoption was always ingrained to my brain and spirit. When I was younger (around 6 or 7) I remember thinking on many occasions, " Why do people keep having more kids? There are so many kids who need homes!" I was so perplexed by this. Now I find myself understanding why.
This adoption process however it ends in the next few days has been an amazing experience with ups and downs but I have appreciated every moment. My best friends mom said something to me when I was younger that told me " When you adopt it is the most spiritually guiding time in your entire life." Boy she was not kidding! Mason was definitely being prepared for us.
Here we are the day before Brittany is induced and I find myself with complete comfort and peace. Whatever will be will be. I know that we will have angels seen and unseen gathered around us at that hospital in the next few days. I will try my hardest to relay the incredible feeling and hardache (in Brittany's behalf) we will be experiencing when that baby is born and when we have that baby placed in our arms. I think some things will just be to sacred to tell but other things I hope can be an inspiration for all those who read it.
Until next time, Farewell! I will be a changed woman in more ways then one the next I get back on here! Thanks again for everyones love and support!

Openness

I wanted to write a little bit about our adoption situation and the wonderful new people who will always be apart of our family.
In the last two weeks I have had 2 baby showers for this little miracle that will be coming to our family. The Birth mom Brittany and her Grandmother Helen attended both. I know we received a lot of raised eyebrows from people wondering if I was putting myself in a position of getting hurt or if I was putting Brittany and her family and a difficult spot. I have had numerous amounts of people asking about our relationship with Brittany and how we are able to deal with that. Well let me tell you a little bit about our story and our relationship with this amazing young lady!
Yes, we have a very open relationship with Brittany and her family. We couldn't ask for a better situation. We enjoy spending lots of time with her and texting on almost a daily basis back and forth. My intentions in forming this relationship is to not only get to know Brittany for Masons sake but to be able to give Brittany the reassurance that she made a good decision, help support her, be a strength to her, and let her know that everything will be all right.
Brittany is the very strong silent type. She is very quiet but can also be very feisty when she wants to be. I don't know anyone that has been through the things she has and stands as strong as she does. People kept asking me after the showers, is she ok with being around all this, she seemed really sad? When I here that I feel like I have to defend my decision in having her there. We talk on a very open dialog and I know that it's obviously a wake up call to whats going on when you have someone else opening presents for your baby. Another reason why we love this girl is she is so supportive of us and has shown genuine interest and excitement with us along the way.
We made a deal that if anything makes her feel uncomfortable or she becomes to overwhelmed then she is more then welcome to step out or leave or whatever she needs to do. I would never put her in a position that makes her feel that way. I leave it up to her and what she can handle. So to answer the question that I'm sure everyone is thinking or has asked, she has been handling it very well! She wasn't even a bit sad, more just tired and sick of this awful heat we have had!

She has already put her in the position of thinking this child is not hers but ours. I would imagine in her situation that you would have to to be able to cope with your desicion and thats a good way to do it. At the shower we had in Logan I wanted everyone to write down their favorite essential item they love for their children and a bit of advice. I told Brittany, "Come on I want something from you to, he's your child!" Her Grandmother was very quick to say, "NO, he's not hers!"(in a loving kind way only grandmas can do). I thought about it for a second and said fine "our" baby. I can't grasp the fact that hes ours and not hers. He will always be hers but will be ours as well. This makes me think of that awful yet amazing few days we will have at the hospital when he's born. I know that there will be angels watching carefully over all of us and the spirit will be strong. It breaks my heart knowing what she is going to do. It aches so much for her knowing that she is placing this amazing baby into the care of someone else for Eternity. I can't even imagine what she will be facing emotionally. It is going to be a very emotionally draining day that will include peace, fear, happiness, sorrow and any other emotion that comes with it. I just know that it is going to be a very hard day and I'm not sure how I'm going to be happy knowing what Brittany will be doing for us. There is no other act of selflessness and love that anyone else could give us. These Women are such an inspiration to me and an amazing lesson on pure love, and strength. These Women deserve the most amazing blessings that our Heavenly Father can give them. I know for a fact that Brittany has and will have the choicest of Angels watching over her and some how will find strength and get through this.

All in all we have a wonderful extended family that will be joining us! The openness works for us in this situation but I'm sure it will be different with each Birth mom. The amazing thing about adoption is that it is truly the most spiritually guiding time in your life. It has been amazing to see everything fall into place. You are led and directed on how to handle each thing that arises. I feel confident and peaceful about the way we have handled things with Brittany and wouldn't change a thing.

We are expecting a phone call any day saying, get down here my water broke! She has 2 1/2 weeks left but he is turned and all the way down ready to go. We will keep everyone posted on the happenings as they come!

Thank you so much to everyone for your love and support. It means the world to Lance and I. We couldn't get through this with out it!

3 Long dreadfully good years

Lance and I hit mile marker 3 today! We had a terribly romantic day.
I woke up to find a Thank You card that Lance had wrote sweet loving words to me which also led me on a scavenger hunt all over the house and to the mail box, where I found a card and specialty chocolate telling me all the different things he loves about me. Que the Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh card........ Thanks I know, so romantic! Later I took him on a special date out to dinner. I drove him to Ogden and we enjoyed a delicious dinner at GoodWood BBQ. A little store called Sephora caught my eye on the way out and all I had to do was bat my eyes. We looked around for a bit and I was very good and didn't spend a penny! We also stopped at a sporting goods store just to make it fair. We also did not spend a penny there! Funny enough we finished the evening with making a pit stop at Wal-mart to buy a box of diapers! Hey we may as well get use to it now!
Thanks for a crazy amazing 3 years my Scubby Whiz Water( Lance made that nickname up for himself, and insist I call him that)! I love you and wouldn't trade you for nothin!

First Encounter

Meet Brittany! This is our very cute, adorable, quiet, and sweet little, and I mean little, Birth Mom. Lance and I had the opportunity of meeting Brittany since she had told us she picked us the week before. I was absolutely a basket case of nerves and just talked excitedly and loudly. I tend to do that when I'm nervous. Lance of course was cool and collective like the suave man he is. Brittany is as shy as they come but very cute. She is a very pint size 5'3. The Birth Dad we know is about 5'5 blonde hair blue eyes. It's safe to say that little Mason Bee Dickey is going to be a tiny squirt. She is due August 6th but Lance and I think she may deliver early. Meeting her was a really neat experience. We just sat and talked for about an hour and a half about all the details of everything. From here on out we get to know each other more, with the 11 weeks(or so)we have left. Were excited to go down to Salt Lake next week and enjoy dinner with Brittany and her Grandparents. That's all folks ;)

Correction!

I just needed to put a quick correction in. The baby's due date is August 6th but she is measuring at 30 cm so she may only have 10 weeks left! That means a birthday present for me! She goes in on the 20th to find out for sure! Thanks everybody for the support! Everyone is telling me to enjoy my sleep now but I'm to excited to sleep!

Wednesday, May 12, 2010

Today was a very good day! Our caseworker wanted to meet with us about some things, when she told us this it didn't sound good. I was worried we were gonna get some bad news as we went in. We sat down and talked for a moment then she pulls out this blue bag and said well I just wanted to tell you congratulations! I was shocked and not sure what was going on then I looked through the bag and was like "OH MY GOODNESS!!" Then I looked at my caseworker like what the heck is happening and she said Brittany picked you to be the parents! We were so happy and of course still are! I am so emotionally exhausted today becuase this was huge! It has all happened so fast. Our profile has only been up since February. We have only been speaking with Brittany for about a month and a half. We will be bringing this little blessing home in August! So soon, a 3 month pregnancy I say is the way to do it! We get to meet Brittany next week and will continue to meet with her to get to know her more and make her apart of our family!

Detox......................STINKS!

I woke up this morning ready to face the day! I called Lance to see if he had come home from the Bakery yet. He answered with a very serious tone in his voice and my heart sank(not knowing what for). He told me he needed to talk to me about something and to give him 5 minutes to put together his plan. Anyone who knows Lance knows that it is not very often that he puts on a serious, I mean business tone. When that happens you know he means business. Not being able to wait I ran downstairs to see what he wanted to talk about.
After some very deep thought and very strong impressions he knew we needed to make some financial changes in our life. We have decided to cut the following things from our life: iPhones, cable, internet, newspaper, Netflix, and the extra car(unless needed for Search and Rescue). This was a blow to my mind! I depended on these things to run my life now on a daily basis. I can't go to sleep without my t.v., I can't survive boredom if I don't have my phone to keep me company. Like at church when I'm bored I look up recipes. This is something equally just as hard if not more for Lance.
As we talked about not only the benefits but the blessings of this I knew it was the right thing to do. We had forgotten how to entertain ourselves and just enjoy each others company. As well as strengthening ourselves in the gospel. Planning a lesson or visiting teaching lesson was something thrown together at the last minute. Attending the Temple was something (not intentionally) was planned around the latest favorite t.v. show and so on. Studying the Scriptures was a thing of the past but always on the we need to do better with this list. We made a list of the blessings we could enjoy if we cut these things from our life. Having time to study and dive into Scriptures, uplifting reading material, take up a new hobbies, enjoy our time as a family, sleep better, and so many more. The biggest one of all is we will be saving $300 a month! That is huge! Not to even think about having to pay the cable and internet and extra things a month will feel soooooo nice. Hopefully that will leave more for weekend trips!
We will see how this goes! The first week we will be stricken with moodiness, jitters and headaches but we will feel so much better. So good bye my Tech world! I will miss you but I will certainly enjoy the extra benefits!

Doing the loop-dee-loop on the roller coaster

This week has drained me completely! We had been speaking with one birth mom for a while pretty seriously. We had built a good relationship just from the emails we had shared together. We didn't know what direction she was going to go with her decision and she had told us she was trying to decide on the right family. Yesterday we got an email saying she decided on another family. It felt like a really bad breakup where your heart just aches! It left me feeling so emotionally tired that I just wanted to hide in my bed for a while. After I had my moment(seems like I'm having a lot of those lately) I pulled myself together and reminded myself of my own words to this girl. Heavenly Father is in complete control of all this stuff! We knew from the start that this girl was going about the whole thing the right way with lots of praying and soul searching for the answer she needed. She wanted to make sure this baby went to the right family. Lance and I both know that her decision which ever way it went would be the right one. Although it hurt we also find peace knowing it wasn't the right one. And once again, That's O.K.

On the other hand we have other people that have shown interest in us so we will continue to go 80 MPH on this joyous ride!

Another Year in Cache Valley

So it turns out I (Lance) didn't get into medical school this year, so I guess I'll hang around here for another year and go caving some more.

Realizing that some experiences come differently........ And that's ok

Today I had a moment. I sat down and watched a documentary called, The Business of Being Born. It is about the different ways women have their children focusing mostly on hospital births compared to at home births using a nurse midwife. At first as I watched it I just thought that this stuff was really fascinating and interesting, the whole at home birth thing. Then it got me in one of those moods that I hadn't really experienced as an infertile messed up woman. Most women in my shoes go through grieving and not understanding process of not having their own flesh and blood. I haven't. This is the way it was and I didn't know any different, and I was o.k. with that. But as I watched this film and seeing the amazing experiences these women are having as they are bringing life in to this world, hit me. Hard. I realized this had been taken from me and I would never know what that felt like, to have this thing grow inside of you and then give it life and have that connection.Heck I would never know what it felt like to push 8 lbs. out of a small space! I felt cheated, but only for a minute. Heavenly Father quickly helped me realize the process I was in and how special it is, and how there are others that don't get to have this amazing experience I get to. This adoption process is incredible and it is amazing to be able to see the hand of Lord working every step of it. The whole process even the crumby parts are just as special if not more(I'm biased sorry people) special then having my own. Yeah you always wonder, what would our kids look like but now when I ask that question to myself I answer with, duh you silly they will be brown, black, blue, green, purple, and white! And that is way more fun then anything I could produce! As this process goes on and we get closer to having a child of our own, a child that is ours I can't help but think how lucky and blessed Lance and I are to have this experience and not just once but multiple times. I can't think of a better way of having a family, and I'm more then OK with that!

Just call me Martha

Since getting our Adoption stuff finished that's all I can think about! So I have taken it upon myself to get crafty, to get my mind off things and have something else to focus on. My dear sweet sister in-law Karen and I took a trip to Sugar-N-Spice and that got my creative juices flowing. My first project was my living room wall that was quite boring for a long time. We got some new pictures taken and I got these great frames and did my own little thing. I still need to add some little nicky nacky things to the photo's though. I then found a cute rub on quote and I still said hmmmmmm this is quite dull. Then I had the idea of adding these cute little chip board doohicky things. I distressed them and then stuck them on the wall. I think I will call it my scrapbook wall.

I'm very proud of this next project. While at Sugar-N-Spice they had these really cute wreath that they wanted $40 for. I figured I could make my own, have it lots cheaper and customize it to the colors I wanted. This is what got plopped together for about $12! I think I want to make one for my outside door now. I have to give props to Lances fabulous picture he took right next to it that helped inspire it.

There you have it! Me and a friend are going to start craft nights where we can work on fun projects and the boys can go caving and do man things! It's nice to be able to have a creative outlet to help occupy me during this time of waiting!
