I woke up this morning ready to face the day! I called Lance to see if he had come home from the Bakery yet. He answered with a very serious tone in his voice and my heart sank(not knowing what for). He told me he needed to talk to me about something and to give him 5 minutes to put together his plan. Anyone who knows Lance knows that it is not very often that he puts on a serious, I mean business tone. When that happens you know he means business. Not being able to wait I ran downstairs to see what he wanted to talk about.
After some very deep thought and very strong impressions he knew we needed to make some financial changes in our life. We have decided to cut the following things from our life: iPhones, cable, internet, newspaper, Netflix, and the extra car(unless needed for Search and Rescue). This was a blow to my mind! I depended on these things to run my life now on a daily basis. I can't go to sleep without my t.v., I can't survive boredom if I don't have my phone to keep me company. Like at church when I'm bored I look up recipes. This is something equally just as hard if not more for Lance.
As we talked about not only the benefits but the blessings of this I knew it was the right thing to do. We had forgotten how to entertain ourselves and just enjoy each others company. As well as strengthening ourselves in the gospel. Planning a lesson or visiting teaching lesson was something thrown together at the last minute. Attending the Temple was something (not intentionally) was planned around the latest favorite t.v. show and so on. Studying the Scriptures was a thing of the past but always on the we need to do better with this list. We made a list of the blessings we could enjoy if we cut these things from our life. Having time to study and dive into Scriptures, uplifting reading material, take up a new hobbies, enjoy our time as a family, sleep better, and so many more. The biggest one of all is we will be saving $300 a month! That is huge! Not to even think about having to pay the cable and internet and extra things a month will feel soooooo nice. Hopefully that will leave more for weekend trips!
We will see how this goes! The first week we will be stricken with moodiness, jitters and headaches but we will feel so much better. So good bye my Tech world! I will miss you but I will certainly enjoy the extra benefits!
