What a special week it has been for our family. I have been overwhelmed with the love and support we have received from friends and family. I don't know of a better way to bring so many families together then through adoption. We have joined together 3 different families for this special little boy who love him more then anything. He's one lucky kid! So before I write anything else I need to say Thank You! And I'm sure the Birth Family would same the same to all of you, for welcoming and loving this child with open hearts and arms. I know it means more then words can say to them.
We were able to finalize the most important part of the adoption Saturday.
We were sealed to Mason for Time and All Eternity. It was such a special day with a wonderful feeling to go along with it. We had many family and friends who were able to come and support us in this and were so happy to share it with them. We were so touched and honored to be able to have Masons Birth Great Grandparents at the temple with us. His Great Grandpa was able to help in the sealing which was really special for us and for Mason one day when we can tell him more about it and he understands. It's such a peaceful feeling to know and have the assurance that Mason will be sealed to us for Eternity. Such a fun word, right? I was hit most with this reality when the sealer said he is yours just like as if he was born to you. And at that point it doesn't matter how these kids come to your family. They just get to take a special route, and your a family all the same!
After the Temple we enjoyed a little Chick-fil-a! I think we took up the whole restaurant with the group we drug in. We then had a little relax time before we headed off to our next adventure, Hot-tubing! That was a nice way to end the day, well we thought it was the end of the day. Lance received a call out for Search and Rescue as we were driving home. So his day didn't end till he returned home at 2:00 am. Mason was a CHAMP all day! He knew that was his special day and he milked it for what he could! I was shocked that he was so pleasant all day. he did not put up a fuss once. He generally gets about 4 hours worth of nap time in a day and he only had about an hour and a half. In spurts too.
Today we were able to Bless him. This was very emotional for me. Britt was able to come which was so special for all of us. The spirit in that room was so strong. We were surrounded by so many loved ones. Lance did an amazing job with the blessing. I felt like not only did he say some very important things for us but for Britt also. Hopefully some things that felt healing. He spoke about how Mason came into our family through great love and sacrifice. He blessed Mason to carry that with him and show that same love and sacrifice to others and use that as an example on how to treat others. Yes, sobbing at this point. After the blessing was done I reached to Britt to give her a hug and tell her Thank You and we loved her. She told me the same. More Sobbing. As I watched Britt(she was sitting in front of me) through out the meeting I could tell and felt that she was touched and felt the spirit. That couldn't have made me happier.
We then had some delicious food at my mothers! Lasagna, Salad, Garlic Bread, and Desserts. More food then we could ever possibly need! I don't think I need to eat for about a week!
And now I'm able to sit here and reflect on the week and also the past 6 months and think about this amazing path my life has put me on. I couldn't ask for better!
Just a final note, mostly for Lances family. Lance lost to Grandmothers this last year within about 6 months before Mason came to our family. We received this letter from a wonderful Lady who knows the Dickey Family. I just wanted to share it with the family cause I thought it would be special for the family!

"There is rarely any happening as joyous at work as when it is announced to a couple that they have been selected to be adoptive parents. A package arrived today that needed to be unpacked and reassembled as a gift bag. In the process of reassembling, I could not help but think of the joy that would descend on family members who had recently suffered two significant losses. What if, just what if this baby is being gently guided to this loving couple, kissed good-bye by two loving great-grandmothers newly arrived in heaven, who are throwing the biggest, joyous farewell party for a darling baby boy about to join their family on earth. Simply Precious."
